Utkarsh's Notes

Unpopular Opinions

This is inspired by Peter Thiel's famous interview question: 'What are important truths few people agree with you on?'. I love asking people this question, so it seems only fair that I answer an off-shoot.

Most of these takes will be pretty controversial, and off-putting, so I just want to put out a disclaimer for that! However, that's what unconventional ideas are supposed to be. For context, Galileo was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for proposing a heliocentric model of the universe. I can only try and come up with ideas of that magnitude!

  1. People shouldn't own images of themselves. Or any derivative of their existence.

  2. A mathematical background should be imperative for policy-making

  3. Nationalism/Patriotism is overrated and is a coping mechanism to feel part of a social structure.

  4. If humans weren't such social creatures, the speed at which society was progressing would be 10x faster.

  5. Life's meaning is found via pushing yourself, often through suffering. It's never been found through pleasure.

  6. Travel is overrated.
